A late evening brought us into the Jackson KOA Minnesota. By this time we were just getting our “sea legs” in the RV, so when we pulled in the Jackson Minnesota KOA we were excited to be out and about to experience a little Minnesota summertime Kid Rock songs always seem to promise.
It is a rustic campground with an aged ambience. In a nutshell, this place has been here a while but everything we used was in good working order. Jackson KOA is a journey branded campground with overnight guests being their focus but the best touch was the hospitality of the staff and other campers. They really were a great group of people. This was by far the friendliest campground on the trip.
Who is ready for a party?
It was a Saturday night, so a Kampground party started around 7:30 that evening kicking off with a hay ride and ice cream social. Karaoke and line dancing were on the schedule as well and the crowds did not disappoint. We swam in the pool and enjoyed listening to singers belt their way through a menagerie of songs. Not to be outshone, the Smith clan took the mic two times for Shake it off and Life is a Highway.
Jackson KOA overview
There is a meager playground with swings and a sandy footing all the kids were addicted to staying in. A goofy golf putt area installed over a concrete slab with no charge for clubs and balls. The bathhouses were nice with ample counter space and clean stalls. The park store was minimally stocked but ample. Need any VHS tapes? They had some. And a most important feature for an RV matriarch, a 24 hour laundry.
We stayed one night. This park appeared to be nothing to write home about at first glance, but we had a splendid time and met more nice people at this location than at any others.
